Description
A covered bridge spans Laurel Creek in Townsend, Tennessee very close to the entrance of Great Smoky Mountains National Park. It's late summer, the air is muggy, and a long line of cars is headed into one of the nation's most visited parks. Although the bears and other wildlife are one of the most popular attractions, it's hard to beat the amazing mountain vistas, hiking trails, fishing holes, and ecological diversity of this area. I decided to stop and take a few minutes to enjoy the view of the wildflowers along the bank below the bridge and reflect upon the fact that I feel very privileged to call this area home, sweet home! (My original photograph has been digitally enhanced for a painterly presentation.)
