My son, who is a college professor, found it necessary to go to Troyes, France for a research and study trip in order to utilize the library there. When he asked if I would like to go along, the answer was an easy yes. The city of Troyes was a wonderful destination, and when he left each morning for the library, I launched out exploring this interesting medieval city. Our apartment was only one block from the cathedral and the downtown area, so it was easy to grab my camera and take my time seeing the sights. Something that I immediately loved about Troyes was the half timber homes, an architectural style similar to the Tudor architecture in England. Uniquely colorful with each house being different than its near by neighbor, the streets of Troyes were a wonderful delight for this photographer! One afternoon, by the time I walked downtown, a storm was gathering and the sky was beautifully dramatic above this street carnival. I hurried to get the photograph before the rain started and was happy witht he results because I think this image captures the essence of this amazing French medieval city.
