Description
Designated in 1870 as the national cathedral of the Church of Ireland, St. Patrick's cathedral in Dublin is the tallest and largest church on the Emerald Isle. However, it is not the seat of a bishop, which is an unusual circumstance. The beautiful church dates back to 1191, although it is not clear in history when it was raised to the status of a cathedral. The altar area is full of color with several regimental flags as well as the flag of Ireland, hanging next to the King David stained glass window front and center. The regimental flags added a wonderful splash of color to a space that was predominately dark and solemn.
