Description
Innsbruck, Austria is commonly known by the western modern world as the site of the Winter Olympics in 1964 and 1976. That is one interesting aspect of the city, and it's fun to see the ski jumps and runs that are still in place there, but Innsbruck has so much more to offer. An ancient city, with evidence of habitation as far back as the Stone Age, it's imperative that any visitor take a walk around the old city in order to fully appreciate this 5th largest city of Austria. The clock tower in the picture is striking with its patinaed copper roof and Tyroliean architectural style. A colorful city, full of delightful hidden surprises, including ancient religious art pieces built right into many of the older structures, Innsbruck is a must if you're in this area!
