Description
My husband and I recently returned from visiting Yellowstone National Park in winter. It was just as magical as I had always imagined! Not easy, but definitely magical. Seeing the wildlife struggling to survive day by day in such harsh conditions pulled at my heartstrings. They forage all day long under deep snow pack, trying to find plants and grass on the frozen surface. Others hunt relentlessly for smaller animals that they can use for food. These two bison were right by the road as we drove into the park at sunrise on a bitterly cold morning. The snow on their faces indicates that they had already been pushing snow away on the ground surface in order to find food. Statistics tell us that each winter at least 10% of the bison population perishes.
