Description
Each year on our visit to Prince Edward Island, we plan on at least one special dinner at Dalvay-by-the-sea near Stanhope, along the north shore. This location was made famous as the White Sands Hotel in the "Anne of Green Gables" television mini series. It was originally built by Alexander Mac Donald, the Standard Oil magnate, as a vacation home and was named after his boyhood home in Scotland. Built with island sandstone in the Queen Anne style, the former home is now a working hotel and restaurant enjoyed by visitors to Prince Edward Island.
