Description
Mad King Ludwig II of Bavaria built three palaces with Linderhof being the smallest of the three. Coped after the Palace of Versailles in Paris, Linderhof has its own room of mirrors and boasts much of the same baroque opulence of the more well-known palace of Ludwig's idol, King Louis XIV of France. In addition to the palace and beautifully maintained formal gardens, the Bavarian monarch also has a quirky decorated cave on the property that helps visitors understand, once they tour the cave, the "mad" label of the child king. It was strange, indeed!
