From the top of Chapman's Peak Drive, just outside of Cape Town, Noordhoek Beach can be seen on a clear summer day. A gorgeous expanse of beach attracts a crowd of surfers wanting to challenge the treacherous waters here. Because the waters are considered to have a significant shark population, there is a shark spotter on duty who will signal swimmers and surfers to retreat to the sandy shore should a shark be located. The expansive beach is also popular for horse back riding along these picturesque coastal waters. If you look closely at the image, the small black dots, which one might suppose to be seabirds in the water, are numerous surfers navigating the waves while keeping a close eye out for ocean predators!
