Description
While wandering the narrow streets of the old city section of Athens, Greece, I spotted this vintage Vespa motorcyle just waiting for me to take a picture! I loved the old motorcycle as well as the setting, right in front of an aged wall and window with decorative wrought iron scroll work. Later, I researched the Vespa scooters a bit and learned that the first Vespa was manufactured in 1946 in Florence, Italy by Piaggio and Company. From their inception, Vespa scooters have been known for their painted, pressed steel unibody which combines, in a unified structural unit, a complete cowling for the engine (enclosing the engine mechanism and concealing dirt or grease), a flat floorboard (providing foot protection), and a prominent front fairing (providing wind protection).
