Just inside the Great Smoky Mountains National Park on the North Carolina side, Mingus Mill sits back a ways from the main road down a partially hidden driveway. It's worth looking for because once there, you are instantly transported to a different time period, and you can't help but gain some historical perspective as you tour the mill and grounds. The retired grist mill is especially beautiful in fall as the surrounding woods are all dressed up in the vibrant colors of the season. This image was taken the first week-end of November, and I was happy to see that my timing was perfect!
Simply put, I LOVE TO TAKE PICTURES. I found this love later in life than many do, after raising my family and enjoying a career in education, both as a teacher and school administrator. Currently, much of my time revolves around travel and photography, and when I'm not traveling and taking pictures, I'm thinking about traveling and taking pictures! The Tennessee valley is my home, so I am surrounded by some of the most scenic areas of the United States with the added bonus of plentiful wildlife and birds...literally paradise for a photographer!
