Description
It was our last day of a fabulous winter excursion to Grand Teton National Park, and my husband and I were up and out before dawn, hoping to catch a gorgeous sunrise along Antelope Flats Road. It didn't take us long to realize that the sunrise was not going to be that spectacular burst of light we had planned on as we arrived at our location, and it was hard to see the distant cottonwood trees due to heavy mist and fog. So we made the decision to stay right there and try to capture the ethereal beauty that we were experiencing rather than try to find another location that would be more promising for a dramatic sunrise. As it turned out, we were glad we stayed because it was one of the most magical mornings we've had in the park. At 15 degrees below zero, we were cold, for sure, but the beauty all around us was stunning. I love the depth of the layers in this foggy landscape and the feathery trees that provide an element of movement as a gentle breeze added to the morning mystique on this January day.

In addition to the banner, I am adding this more permanent recognition of its FEATURE on the homepage of A TREE OR TREES IN BLACK AND WHITE. I try mightily to feature only images that would be at home in a juried competition. No doubt that this image fits that bill. CONGRATULATIONS!
