Description
It was a cold January morning in Grand Teton National Park, and my husband and I were out with our cameras before sunrise. We had already taken several pictures of the first light of the day as it moved across the Teton range, and were trying to decide where we would head next for some additional landscapes. As we drove along the Gros Ventre River road on the eastern side of the park, we saw that a sizeable group of bison had gathered on the left side of the road so we pulled off to the right, hoping to get a few wildlife shots. The biggest bulls in this herd of enormous beasts stood as if in a huddle trying to decide what to do. Before too long, one of them stepped out and became the clear leader as they followed one by one, crossing the road right in front of us and heading in a single file line straight to the mountains. Not only was this a great experience, but we had ample opportunity to obtain some wonderful wildlife images!
