Description
Built by Colonel "Hamp" Tipton for his daughters in the late 1870's, the Tipton Place is one of my favorite remaining historic structures in Cades Cove, Great Smoky Mountains National Park. A lovely home, along with several out buildings on two sides of the Loop Road through the Cove, was the residence of the Tipton sisters who were school teachers, sometimes still referred to as the "school marms" of the Cove. In later years, the place was rented to the James McCauley family before becoming part of the national park. This image is the woodshed, which is located to the right side of the main house and looks especially nice with the foreground fence and the woods in the background on a lovely early spring day.
