Description
On a recent trip to Africa, we had one very long travel day on a bus, which is always the worst day for me. I love to travel and realize that sometimes those long bus days are just plain necessary in order to get from point A to point B, but they're still my least favorite days. I've noticed most of my fellow bus travelers use this time to nap or read, but I'm usually too excited to do either and figure I'm sure to miss something if I don't keep my eyes open and look out the window. My solution is to have my camera settings arranged so that I can capture scenes from a rapidly moving bus, and I sit and wait for something that might work as a photograph along the route. Often these shots are failures, but I look at it as a challenge to actually get a good shot under these circumstances, so I'm pretty vigilant in my mission. This is one of those shots. I like the simplicity of the landscape composition and the contrasts so evident in the black and white version. The dramatic clouds in the sky help make this one of these "shots along the way" that I'm pleased with!

In addition to the banner, I am adding this more permanent recognition of its FEATURE on the homepage of A TREE OR TREES IN BLACK AND WHITE. I try mightily to feature only images that would be at home in a juried competition. No doubt that this image fits that bill. CONGRATULATIONS! And consider adding your image to DISCUSSIONS "Please post your featured photograph here" for greater, long-lasting visibility.
