Description
Stretching across the Abegweit Passage of the Northumberland Strait for nine miles, the Confederation Bridge joins Prince Edward Island with mainland Canada in New Brunswick. Quite the engineering marvel, the bridge opened on May 31, 1997 and eliminated the need for a ferry in this area, although ferry services are still available from Nova Scotia to Prince Edward Island on the other side of the island. This image was taken from the island side on a perfect evening in late summer when the waters were calm and still and the blue hour skies exceptionally beautiful. My husband and I had just witnessed a magnificent sunset and lingered on the beach just enjoying the pleasant evening and watching the lights come on along the bridge.
