On our first day in Alaska, my husband and I took the scenic train ride from Anchorage to Denali, and I still hold this day in my memory as one of my favorite travel days EVER. The scenery was a beautiful as any I've seen, including the Alps in Switzerland and Italy as well as Bavaria. The train was so nice, comfortable seats, glass enclosed, great amenities on every hand, but I chose to spend my time out on the little platform at the end of the car just hanging out with my camera and taking literally thousands of shots. So much beauty on every side that made me totally forget that it was rather cold and windy out there! I know most of the passengers probably got an initial impression that I was a crazy lady, but there were another couple of photographers that joined me from time to time. I'd do it again tomorrow if I only could!
Simply put, I LOVE TO TAKE PICTURES. I found this love later in life than many do, after raising my family and enjoying a career in education, both as a teacher and school administrator. Currently, much of my time revolves around travel and photography, and when I'm not traveling and taking pictures, I'm thinking about traveling and taking pictures! The Tennessee valley is my home, so I am surrounded by some of the most scenic areas of the United States with the added bonus of plentiful wildlife and birds...literally paradise for a photographer!
