Photographers flock to Cades Cove in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park in three seasons of the year, but not so much during winter. Yes, the landscape is missing the main attraction of black bears, the lush greens, the wildflowers, and summer meadows with butterflies and birds, but even so, I enjoy the winter photography in the mountains. The flowing lines of the bare tree branches, the ever present fog, the crisp clean air, and, best of all, the quiet solitude. For those of us who are local, it's a happy time when the park is not overly crowded, snakes are not out, and a long walk can be enjoyed without running into one other person!
Simply put, I LOVE TO TAKE PICTURES. I found this love later in life than many do, after raising my family and enjoying a career in education, both as a teacher and school administrator. Currently, much of my time revolves around travel and photography, and when I'm not traveling and taking pictures, I'm thinking about traveling and taking pictures! The Tennessee valley is my home, so I am surrounded by some of the most scenic areas of the United States with the added bonus of plentiful wildlife and birds...literally paradise for a photographer!
