Description

The alpha male of the local elk herd at Ocoanluftee, North Carolina in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park walks back to his herd after a sparring match with younger bulls in the early morning light. Although once again victorious in retaining his position as leader of the pack, this older male is looking rather battle weary and missing one side of his substantial rack.
