If you travel very much in Europe, you soon realize that it's quite common to see castles. It's uncommon, however, to see one with a moat! This castle is located in Austria, very near the city of Salzburg and the German border, with a wonderful view of the eastern Alps. Our tour bus had just passed the famous mountaintop shown in the opening scene of "The Sound of Music" when Julie Andrews twirls round and round as she sings the theme song of the movie. Next stop was this beautiful castle, complete with moat, which is now privately owned preventing us from seeing the inside. There's just something magical about castles that conjures up princesses and fairy tales and dreams of living in one of these special places when our prince charming comes to whisk us off to an idyllic future! Simply put, I LOVE TO TAKE PICTURES. I found this love later in life than many do, after raising my family and enjoying a career in education, both as a teacher and school administrator.
