Description
In my opinion, nature is beautiful in every season! Although winter is certainly a more stark and barren look for most areas, those who are looking carefully will notice that there are many things that can be seen and noticed and appreciated that are normally hidden by lush summer growth. My husband and I were feeling particularly adventurous on a bright January day while visiting the Royal Gorge near Canon City, Colorado and decided to board a train that took us along the winding curves along the Arkansas River at the bottom of the canyon. I was very surprised to observe so much color and beauty along our route, and since it was an unusually warm afternoon for the season, we were able to stand outside on the observation car at the back of the train and take full advantage of the view. Textures stood out as well, and we realized anew that our world is an amazing place even in the middle of our least favorite season!
