With its two spires rising high above the city, the Cathedral of Saint John the Baptist in Savannah is hard to miss. The church, although organized originally in 1796, was built on its present site and in its present form in 1899 after a fire destroyed the earlier facility. It took another 13 years to complete the impressive interior as it is today. This door is actually one of the side doors facing Lafayette Square. I liked its weathered wood and heavy metal hardware, but was espeically drawn to the stone carved inscription above the door.
Simply put, I LOVE TO TAKE PICTURES. I found this love later in life than many do, after raising my family and enjoying a career in education, both as a teacher and school administrator. Currently, much of my time revolves around travel and photography, and when I'm not traveling and taking pictures, I'm thinking about traveling and taking pictures! The Tennessee valley is my home, so I am surrounded by some of the most scenic areas of the United States with the added bonus of plentiful wildlife and birds...literally paradise for a photographer!
