Artist's Description
Taken from the rocky shore on the Florida mainland in Titusville and looking toward Merritt Island, this image shows the Max Brewer Bridge which connects the island to the mainland. The bridge, which is of concrete construction, opened in 2011 and has won several design awards as well as a People's Choice Award, an award presented by the American Association of Transportation and Highway Officials. Merritt Island, although technically a peninsula, is home to the Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge and the Kennedy Space Center.
