Description
Origins of the scents of Capri perfumery date back to 1380 when the father prior of the Carthusian Monastery gathered the most fragrant flowers on the island to present to a visiting queen. It is said that the water from the vessel containing these flowers was the first official perfume of the Isle of Capri. When visiting the site of the monastery today, tourists may still purchase perfumes. This beautiful copper container, now displayed outside the perfumery, was historically used in the making of perfume at this location. As someone who likes copper and has it all over my kitchen, I loved the composition of the shiny container glowing in the afternoon sun set among the vibrant blooming flowers below.
