Description
When this image was taken, we had just left the official spot marked "Cape of Good Hope," where it had been extremely blustery and raw with high waves crashing against the rocky coast. Our guide had explained that the geographical nature of the southernmost tip of the continent was generally rough and raw because of the meeting of the Indian and Atlantic Oceans with their inherent temperature differences. This scene was about five minutes later, and although it was still windy and cold, the ocean was much calmer and the shoreline not as rugged and rocky. It was interesting to note the difference of the two scenes, even though they are so close together. The ocean in this photo looks so aqua against the periwinkle blue of the overcast sky. It struck me as an unusual contrast of the two. I'm thinking the deep aqua of the ocean is due to the very cold waters here.
