Being at Garden of the Gods for the first light of dawn was an unforgettable experience. It was bitterly cold on this winter day in January, and when my husband and I arrived in the dark and starting setting up our tripods in order to capture the sunrise, I was having my doubts and thinking more about frostbite on my fingers than I was about photography. I honestly didn't know how long I'd be able to last even though I had my warmest coat, long underwear, neck warmer, hat, and gloves. However, once that amazing light began to light up the rock formations, the worries about the temperature totally disappeared. This sunrise will stand forever, I'm quite sure, as one of the top ten of my life...and I've witnessed a lot of sunrises!
Simply put, I LOVE TO TAKE PICTURES. I found this love later in life than many do, after raising my family and enjoying a career in education, both as a teacher and school administrator. Currently, much of my time revolves around travel and photography, and when I'm not traveling and taking pictures, I'm thinking about traveling and taking pictures! The Tennessee valley is my home, so I am surrounded by some of the most scenic areas of the United States with the added bonus of plentiful wildlife and birds...literally paradise for a photographer!
