Description
A lone, frosty bison endures the bitterly cold and snowy winter of Yellowstone National Park. After spending a week in the park in the coldest part of winter, I realized anew how every day is a test of survival for the animals who call this place home. From sunup to sundown every day the search for food that is hard to come by. The bison faces are most often snow covered and frosty because they spend their time swinging their large heads from side to side to brush aside a deep snowpack (about 2 feet here) to get to the ground where they find grass and other plant material to eat. I really loved the minimalist effect here with the bison all alone in an expanse of white.
