A long awaited glimpse of the tail of a whale in the cold waters of Alaska off the coast of Hoonah! This image was a favorite of the day because of the unusual stripes and colors of the water. For a short time during our three hour excursion, the light was hitting the water in such a way that it looked unreal. With this fabulous artistic background, even a simple whale fluke transforms into appealing art.
