Description
A dripping wet yearling looks back at me like she's been caught in the act as she raids a tree full of pin cherries in Cades Cove, just after a hard summer shower. Black bears are commonly seen in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park during most months of the year and draw millions to the park at peak summer season. From the time they come out of the dens in early spring until winter arrives, the bears subsist on seasonal diets, ranging from field grasses to berries to cherries to mast.

Thanks, Karen! I was thinking about you a few days ago and thinking that our paths hadn't crossed in a while. Good to hear from you...
