Description
While it is not the highest or widest waterfall in the world, Victoria Falls is considered the largest, based on its combined width of 5604 feet and height of 354 feet, resulting in the world's largest sheet of falling water. The falls are formed as the full width of the Zambezi River plummets into a transverse chasm. During the dry season of the year, visitors can get a good view of the falls at ground level, but during the wet season, the best views are from the air due to the flooding and excessive mists constantly surrounding the falls. We were there at the very end of the wet season and were not able to get much of a view from below, although the two mile walk around the falls was enjoyable, and we did catch some peek-a-boo views through the mist at times. We also encountered baboons and relished our route through a lovely forest much of the way, so even during the wetter times, it's worth the visit. It was later in the afternoon that we took a helicopter ride, and I took this shot from the air. Victoria Falls was an amazing experience all the way around!
