Sometimes it can be very easy to overlook the familiar things that we see every day. Common and familiar places can be taken for granted if we look at them but don't really SEE them. Recently on a foggy morning in November, I wandered outside with my camera and walked around the yard choosing to look at it through the eyes of a photographer. Yes, there's the familiar tire swing that my husband made and hung in a tree for my granddaughters, the tool shed that sits where my children's playhouse was many years ago, and the trees that we planted from seeds because we couldn't afford to buy trees when we moved in. All things that could be very ordinary and mundane, but on this particular morning, they worked together as a picturesque composition that I found quite appealing. I like to think that others might enjoy it, too!
Simply put, I LOVE TO TAKE PICTURES. I found this love later in life than many do, after raising my family and enjoying a career in education, both as a teacher and school administrator. Currently, much of my time revolves around travel and photography, and when I'm not traveling and taking pictures, I'm thinking about traveling and taking pictures! The Tennessee valley is my home, so I am surrounded by some of the most scenic areas of the United States with the added bonus of plentiful wildlife and birds...literally paradise for a photographer!
