This was the scene that awaited us as we approached Vernazza, one of the famous Cinque Terre hill towns on the coast of the Liguria region of Italy. The five centuries old, seaside villages are part of the rugged Italian Riviera coastline where colorful houses and vineyards cling to steep terraces, harbors are filled with fishing boats, and trattorias turn out seafood specialties to go along with the region's famous pesto sauce. The Sentiero Azzuro hiking trail connects the villages and follows the mountainous terrain above them offering sweeping sea views for those who are up for a rigorous eight mile trek.
Simply put, I LOVE TO TAKE PICTURES. I found this love later in life than many do, after raising my family and enjoying a career in education, both as a teacher and school administrator. Currently, much of my time revolves around travel and photography, and when I'm not traveling and taking pictures, I'm thinking about traveling and taking pictures! The Tennessee valley is my home, so I am surrounded by some of the most scenic areas of the United States with the added bonus of plentiful wildlife and birds...literally paradise for a photographer!
