Artist's Description
Although it's not as well known as some of the other, more prominent, hill towns in Tuscany, my husband and I really enjoyed the medieval walled city of San Quirico d' Orcia. The only negative was that it was a national holiday in Italy on the day we were there, and literally everything was closed! I guess the positive, though, is the fact that we had it all to ourselves and could wander around and take pictures to our heart's content without worrying about crowds. This image was one of my favorites from this location. I loved the afternoon light shining on the Collegiate Church of San Quirico at the end of the shady narrow street. Hopefully, one day we'll have the opportunity to return and enjoy a cappuccino or lunch in one of the many charming cafes that we could only see from the outside!
