Description
Cape of Good Hope, the southern most point on the African continent is the place where the Indian and Atlantic Oceans meet. As a result of the inherent temperature differences in the two bodies of water, most often this area is windy and raw atmospherically, as well as turbulent off shore. When I visited this famous point on a late spring day, it was beautiful in spite of the blustery winds and roiling ocean. I could hardly get over the fact that I was standing there, in a place that I had learned about in 4th grade history class, where early explorers had carefully navigated their way around the continent. We saw many birds braving the weather and one enterprising seal out on the rocks fighting the wind. It was a special moment on my trip to Africa, for sure!
