This trio of Tennesseans is far from Nashville! While driving the back roads of rural eastern Tennessee about an hour from home, my husband and I just had to stop when we saw a family of mules! They seemed as excited to see us as we were to see them, coming right over to us when we got out of the car. Some of my earliest memories center around riding on the back of my granddaddy's mule as he plowed the fields of his small family farm in Kentucky. Maybe that's one reason why I love this image!
