Located near the small east Tennessee town of Tellico Plains in the Cherokee National Forest, Bald River Falls is a great place to go at any time of year. Sometimes if we have an exceptionally cold winter, the falls freeze solid, but I've only seen them one time in that state. This shot was taken on a very hot fourth of July day, but the mist coming off the falls has a cooling effect. Although I was able to get this shot without any people, there were plenty visitors there cooling off in the swimming hole below the falls.
Simply put, I LOVE TO TAKE PICTURES. I found this love later in life than many do, after raising my family and enjoying a career in education, both as a teacher and school administrator. Currently, much of my time revolves around travel and photography, and when I'm not traveling and taking pictures, I'm thinking about traveling and taking pictures! The Tennessee valley is my home, so I am surrounded by some of the most scenic areas of the United States with the added bonus of plentiful wildlife and birds...literally paradise for a photographer!
