Description
One of the top tourist attractions in Charleston, South Carolina is the pineapple fountain, located downtown at Waterfront Park. The fountain is a focal point of the city, and people have been enjoying since it opened in 1990, the spring after Hurricane Hugo. Pineapple motifs are common in the south and represent welcome and hospitality. The Pineapple Fountain was designed by Stu Dawson, Jay Faber, Varoujan Hagopian, and Mark Dawson. It's a beautiful addition to the city any time of day, but I especially loved photographing it at blue hour under the canopy of a spring starry sky.
