Description
In the months of May and June, big horn sheep come from the higher elevations of Mummy Range to Sheeps Lake in Horseshoe Park, located near the Fall River entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado. It is necessary for the sheep to migrate to this spot in order to eat the mud that is full of minerals that they need after lambing and having a poor diet during the winter months. The meadow surrounding the lake is lovely, even in winter when my husband and I visited the park. Although the lake was frozen solid, we still enjoyed the view back toward the snow covered mountain peaks in the distance. Winter landscapes are no less beautiful than any other season. Textures, layers, subtle colors, and patches of snow all serve to create peaceful, serene tones of a winter scene.
