Description
One of the ghost towns in the Rockies, Winfield was a silver and gold mining community that was established in 1880. Located in Clear Creek Canyon, history tells us that this remote town once had as many as 1500 residents during the late 1800's and into the turn of the century. However, by 1912 it was already deserted and the post office closed. All that remains are a few log structures and a cemetery. This particular cabin caught my eye with its curtains still hanging in the windows. The misty, rainy day that we explored Winfield was the perfect kind of day to take some cozy images as the low hanging clouds and fogs shrouded the tops of the mountains.
