Artist's Description
It was the morning of my birthday, and I decided to head for a local field of sunflowers to enjoy sunrise. About 30 minutes from my house, a local farmer in Maryville, Tennessee has planted rows and rows of sunflowers for us to enjoy. As I arrived before the sun was up, I was surprised to see how many others were were joining me on this late summer week day morning. The distant sky was already glowing red at the horizon, so we wouldn't have to wait long for the special moment. As the warm rays began to spread across the field, lighting up row after row of these tall beauties, it was a lovely moment and I was happy to have experienced something that would make my birthday a good memory!

Simply put, I LOVE TO TAKE PICTURES. I found this love later in life than many do, after raising my family and enjoying a career in education, both as a teacher and school administrator. Currently, much of my time revolves around travel and photography, and when I'm not traveling and taking pictures, I'm thinking about traveling and taking pictures! The Tennessee valley is my home, so I am surrounded by some of the most scenic areas of the United States with the added bonus of plentiful wildlife and birds...literally paradise for a photographer!
