Description
Located just outside the northern entrance of Yellowstone National Park, an area known as Tom Miner Basin proved to be quite the scenic experience on a summer evening. Based on a tip from a local resident, my husband and I headed to the basin to check out a field where grizzly bears were known to gather to eat a local root plant in the late afternoon hours. Hoping to watch and photograph grizzlies but totally unprepared for the rough terrain and potholed ridden road, we slowly found our way to the spot and were ready with our cameras for the appearance of the bears at any minute. THEY NEVER SHOWED UP! But all was not lost because a fast moving storm moved through, and our attention turned to scenery rather than wildlife. As it turned out, we took many photos as the light seemed to get better and better and the mountain landscapes were magical.
