Description
There's an eerie silence and stillness when a heavy fogs moves in and settles over a place during the middle of the afternoon. My husband and I had been visiting Maine's Acadia National Park for a week, and on our last afternoon, we decided to head to Schoodic Peninsula for sunset. We had been told that the rocky coast of Schoodic was a great spot to catch a lovely summer sunset and the weather was supposed to be perfect, so what did we have to lose? As we arrived near our destination, the sun was shining brightly, and we commented to each other that conditions were lining up just as we had hoped ensuring that chances were high for that award winning photo that we both wanted. We hadn't been on the peninsula very long, however, when suddenly a heavy fog began to move in, the sky turned dark, and a mysterious stillness took over the atmosphere. We pulled off the road as we passed this marshy area and I took a few pictures because I liked the ethereal look of the scene. Even at this point, we still thought it would pass and our sunset would happen. We were very wrong. Almost before we knew it, rain was softly falling the sky was filled with threatening clouds, and waves were crashing against the rocky shore. We stayed with the storm and captured some good images, even though it was far from what we had come for...
