Artist's Description
Just sitting all alone on the top of a termite mound in Serengeti National Park, this vervet monkey looked as if he was thinking long and hard about something! The vervet monkey is an Old World monkey of the family Cercopithecidae native to Africa. Vervets were introduced to Florida, St. Kitts and Nevis, Barbados, and Cape Verde. These mostly herbivorous monkeys have black faces and grey body hair color, ranging in body length from about 16 in for females to about 20 in for males. I liked the black and white version of this image better than the color one because it seems to add to the soberness of "deep thought" that this little guy was entertaining.
About Marcy Wielfaert
Simply put, I LOVE TO TAKE PICTURES. I found this love later in life than many do, after raising my family and enjoying a career in education, both as a teacher and school administrator. The Tennessee valley is my home, so I am surrounded by some of the most scenic areas of the United States with the added bonus of plentiful wildlife and birds...literally paradise for a photographer! My best days are spent in the mountains enjoying God's amazing creation and trying to capture all things nature with my camera. It gives me great joy to use this medium to share the intricacies of...
