This sweet little fawn crossed the road unexpectedly right in front of our car as we were exploring the Tom Miner Basin area close to the north entrance of Yellowstone National Park. We had been in Montana for several days by this time and had been surprised by wildlife more than once, although it was always a treat and never became tiresome routine. As the fawn darted into this beautiful meadow of blooming wildflowers, I asked my husband to stop, leapt out the car camera in hand, and followed as fast as I could. Although he was easily startled and I had to proceed very slowly, I did finally get some decent opportunities. It's just not every day that you see them in such a lovely setting, so I was a happy photographer when I found my way back to where my husband had pulled off the road and parked the car.
