Description
My husband and I had already been to Africa once, visiting South Africa, Zimbabwe, Botswana, and Eswatini, but we had not seen any leopard during our two week safari adventure. Local guides informed us that the leopards were generally very elusive and that sightings of them were much less common than most other wildlife. Our second trip was to Tanzania, and I was determined to find a leopard! Although I knew that I actually would have nothing to do with it because it was just the luck of happening to be at the right place at the right time. On our first day in Serengeti National Park as we were headed back to our camp for the night and darkness was coming fast, our guide spotted this handsome fellow lounging in a tree about 100 yards off the road. With the distance and light being so low, I had very little hope for any decent pictures. Although I had my best wildlife lens, there was a lot working against me, so I was very happy to see this image later on my computer and realize that it was going to be nice enough to duplicate and hang in my home. I have three canvases of my special lounging leopard now and nothing but wonderful memories as I enjoy him on my wall!
