Remnants of snow in the foreground hint that winter is still around at Mary's Lake inn Estes Park, Colorado. Another hint of the cold, blustery day in January are the windswept grasses that add a nice touch of movement in this idyllic lakeside landscape. My first trip to Rocky Mountain National Park was in the month of January, despite some admonitions from friends that the winter season might not be the best time to make the journey west. The photography did not disappoint, and I found the lack of crowds and activity a very positive aspect. It was great to be able to take pictures of the park and surrounding area without people, and the solitude, peace, and serenity of the area is well illustrated.
Simply put, I LOVE TO TAKE PICTURES. I found this love later in life than many do, after raising my family and enjoying a career in education, both as a teacher and school administrator. Currently, much of my time revolves around travel and photography, and when I'm not traveling and taking pictures, I'm thinking about traveling and taking pictures! The Tennessee valley is my home, so I am surrounded by some of the most scenic areas of the United States with the added bonus of plentiful wildlife and birds...literally paradise for a photographer!
