Description
The John Oliver cabin is the first historic structure on the Cades Cove loop road in Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Set a ways back from the road and reached by a short hike either through the woods or across an expansive meadow, this rustic gem of yesteryear is well worth the stop and walk. On a perfect fall day, the late 1800's homestead did not disappoint, and I was able to photograph it from several angles by being patient and waiting for park visitors to clear the area. This is the view as you approach the site from walking through the woods from the parking area. It's always a good day when I spend it in this special valley that is the heart of the Smokies.
