While exploring rural Montana, my husband and I were thrilled to discover this original sod roofed home just 8 miles outside of Three Forks on Montana Highway 2. We stopped to take some pictures and loved the picturesque setting and wonderful sky that developed while we were there. Later research revealed that this is officially the Parker Homestead State Park, and it contains one acre of land and the original homestead, outside toilet, hand pump and well, and some antique farm implements in the adjacent field. Funding shortages made it necessary to officially close the park last year, and it is now quite overgrown and neglected.
