Description

Pileated woodpeckers are a fairly common sight in Cades Cove and can be heard calling each other in many of the wooded areas. Often you hear them long before you see them. Over the past several months, I've had many opportunities to observe these interesting creatures, and definitely consider them one of the more entertaining birds in the Cove.
