Description
As we made our way down the half mile walk to the beach at Botany Bay Plantation just outside of Charleston, South Carolina, I had very little hope of any good sunrise images. I plodded on and wondered if I was wasting my time. It was raining, and I was trying to balance my camera gear and tripod while holding the umbrella and discerning possible trip hazards in the muddy path. All in all, it was shaping up to be a miserable morning. Now, just thirteen hours later as I look at my pictures, I am so glad perseverance paid off. Just a little peak of sun occasionally added a touch of drama to our brooding sky and somewhat "other worldly" beach experience. The boneyard beach, full of dead trees petrified from years of saltwater tides, was hauntingly beautiful and worth the misery it took to get there!
