Description
There are so many things to love about the Great Smoky Mountains National Park! The wildlife, waterfalls, mountains, wildflowers...the list goes on and on. On thing that stands out to me as I look at this particular image is the fact that no matter what time of year, there are interesting plants and flowers that change the landscape enough, so that it's never the same. This photo was taken in late summer when the fields tend to be a bit overgrown, the flowers are strong and tall, and the colors a bit more muted as we wait for the coming explosion of Fall. I love the pop of the purple that stands out against the surrounding vegetation. Notice the lingering fog that is still at the base of the mountains late into the day that gives these mountains their name!
